Investment clubs have been in existence for many decades, and in past iterations have been organizations that helped first time investors pool investment resources, allowed for monthly contributions to help build up savings and provided basic investment education. Investment clubs have historically been somewhat rigid in structure to deal with the past complexity of trading systems.

There is a different class of investor that can be served well by being enabled to easily harness the talent around them. This investor has more capital than time, often has deep knowledge specific to an industry or sector and is socially well connected to others with different skills and interests. A majority of their assets are either professionally managed, erratically invested as a result of self directed trades, or both.
